Prince Harry and His Links to the World of Boxing
September 18, 2022
When we think of a Royal Prince, we think of someone who, well, does very little for themselves. They are often pampered to the point of ridiculousness. One Prince who tries to break this mold is Prince Harry of the United Kingdom. A keen sports player, Harry has been involved in the ‘Made by Sport’ campaign that wants to help bring disadvantaged kids in the UK into the world of sport.
Harry was recently taking part in an event at the Black Prince Trust in London. There, he worked with illustrious boxing stars like Anthony Joshua and Nicola Adams to show the kids involved what can be achieved. Harry has always been noted as an advocate of sport and was seen talking to those who were involved, telling them about the importance of using their anger and emotions positively.
He also provided a very impassioned and direct speech to the children, talking about the difference between those who grow up with the sport in their lives and those who do not. He even stated that if someone does not have sports in their life, they could be preparing themselves for an isolated journey.
Sport is about more than just fitness, though; it is about discipline, interaction with others, and the building of community. It is also about giving people the chance to aspire to be more than they are today; sport is one of the most uplifting industries we have created.
While some might scoff at the sums of money involved in sport, it can take people from positions of total disadvantage to being able to build something for themselves, their families, and the communities they come from.
You might not agree with the concept of Royalism, and that is fine – but at least this one particular Prince seems to be spending some of his time doing something for others. Having grown up in a world of immense privilege, Prince Harry appears to have more of the human touch and soul that many Royals could benefit from. Who knows? Perhaps sport did foster these traits in him.
