The Shorter Men In Hollywood That Prove That Height Is Just A Number
Some girls love men with a high status in society, and the height of their partner is just the cherry on top. But who says that prince charming should have to meet certain height criteria? These few good men of Hollywood embody positive masculine energy, even if they are shorter kings than most.
The most common body-shaming question on dating apps is not how many abs packs a man has. No, it’s his height. As the adage goes, tall, dark, and handsome are crucial features—but this is rubbish. Some of Hollywood's biggest male stars are shorter than average, illustrating that height is no barrier to success.
Tom Never Minds
There has been a great deal of conjecture over the height of this Top Gun actor. It’s estimated that he is approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall. However, several online discussion forums and blogs have been devoted to the subject, which attempts to demonstrate that he is approximately two inches shorter than that.
Some of these message boards have even kept track of every time Tom Cruise has appeared in public while wearing heeled boots or shoe lifts. Meanwhile, he continues to ensure that the women he dates are "a touch" taller than he is.
Short King Ben Stiller
Ben Stiller, renowned for his epic comedy films, also makes the cut here, which may suggest that small guys get to be the funniest. It might be that he was just born talented and funny, or maybe that he developed this through the years.
It’s unlikely that he would be able to acquire a modeling job in real life, given that he is only 5 feet 7 inches tall—even though he portrayed a really, really fantastic-looking model in the film Zoolander (apologies—fan joke). Ben Stiller, whose father was the actor Jerry Stiller, who stood at 5 feet 5, made the correct decision when he decided to follow in his footsteps.
Al Pacino Is Okay With Being Short
It goes without saying that Al Pacino is a household name. He's a multi-talented man who's done everything, from acting to writing to directing and everything in between. Unfortunately for him, his short stature in The Godfather almost lost him his part.
During the Tribeca Film Festival, it was revealed that Paramount producers were concerned about his height. Although he's one of the best in the industry, he lacks height. But his height never stopped him from bringing in the bucks at the box office.
Martin Scorsese Is Not Just 5’3
When questioned about his views on sports, this director/producer/actor once said, "Sports? Anything resembling a ball is a bad idea! Martin Scorsese's aversive response could be explained by his diminutive stature of 5'3".
In a basketball game, it's safe to say that the actor would have been a terrible starting forward. In the end, he didn't need athletics to become one of Hollywood's most important filmmakers. Although he mostly spends his time behind the camera, if you've seen Curb Your Enthusiasm or 30 Rock, you've seen him at his height.
The Handsome Young Franco
Dave Franco seems to have gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to stature in the family. Despite having three outstanding older brothers, Dave has been able to carve out a successful career in Hollywood on his own.
Even though James Franco is four inches taller than him, he may have simply felt the urge to keep up. For red carpet appearances, Alison Brie, his wife, may want to reconsider her choice of high shoes. Or maybe he’s so comfortable within himself that he doesn’t care. Heck yeah.
The Foxiest Of Them All
It's possible that he is one of the shortest guys in Hollywood, but who cares about that when you can travel across time? The multi-talented performer doesn’t need to go “back to the future" to pick up some height-enhancing shoes—he stands out all on his own.
Even though his wife, Tracy Pollan, is just two inches higher than he is, the height difference is rather evident when she puts on a pair of stilettos and stands next to her husband, who is 5 feet 4 inches tall. Even their kid is now taller than the both of them.
Danny DeVito is probably the number one celebrity you must have been waiting to see on our list. The actor, who is a winner of an Emmy Award, went on to reveal that he wanted to feel at ease and have friends when he was at school—and that he would try to make up for the fact that he was short, by having a big personality.
DeVito is just 4 feet 10 inches tall, making him possibly the tiniest man in Hollywood, yet despite all that, we can never get enough of him. Though he is just two inches shorter than his wife, all of their children have surpassed both of them in height.
The Little Prince
Prince, the legendary musician—and occasional actor—appeared in the 1984 film Purple Rain as himself. A few years before he passed away, he also appeared in a cameo role in the comedy New Girl.
Even if his height wasn't immediately apparent, folks did make a point of remarking on his preference for high heels. It's been stated that he wore heels due to his height. To please the ladies, I wear high heels." Even with his high heels, Prince was just 5'2" tall!
In the Harry Potter movies, we were able to watch Daniel Radcliffe grow up from an adorable young 11-year-old to a famous actor. Even though he's currently at a healthy 5 feet 5 inches tall, he has an amazing screen presence, and audiences everywhere love him for it.
"I don't think so," he said when asked whether his height would restrict the roles he could play. “Both Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise are taller than I am, yet their careers are extremely different.” Over the last few years, he’s shown himself to be a highly diverse actor, and we love to see him in everything he does.
Dustin Hoffman, At 5’6
This brilliant actor has been able to overcome his height of 5 feet 6 inches to appear in numerous renowned films such as The Graduate, Meet the Fockers, and All the President's Men. When he’s on screen, you won’t be able to take your eyes off of him.
He disclosed in an interview that he was taken aback when Mike Nicholas placed him in The Graduate. "Nichols opted to give this small, funny-looking Jewish person the character that is typically given for a tall, attractive protestant," he said. "I was astonished."
Small Jonah Hill
Jonah Hill is blessed with a sense of humor that, among other things, more than compensates for his short stature. Some people believe that individuals use humor as a means of masking their inadequacies, and the fact that Jonah Hill is just 5 feet 7 inches tall might be the reason why he is considered to be one of the funniest guys in Hollywood.
The star of Superbad, 21 Jump Street, and Sausage Party has also shed an incredible amount of weight over the last several years, and as a result, the topic of conversation around him is not his height but rather his weight.
Elija “Not So Tall” Wood
Elijah Wood is often confused for being Daniel Radcliffe's twin, and when it comes to height, he is just around an inch or two shorter than Radcliffe. Wood was the ideal choice to play the part of a Hobbit in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
However, in real life, he probably doesn’t have feet quite as large as an actual Hobbit. Although trick photography and special wardrobe switch-outs did much of the heavy lifting, his height was probably a huge factor when the producers considered him for the role of Frodo.
The Adorable Jack Black
Another comic who may have used comedy to overcome his physical limitations has emerged on the scene. We can't help but despise Jack Black—no matter how hard we try, we’ll never be as funny or as talented as him. He is a multi-talented artist, and his height simply doesn’t enter the equation.
Actor, guitarist, and singer in one of the greatest rock-parody bands of all time, he excels in all of these fields…almost effortlessly. The actor, however, is short by 5 feet 7 inches in real life, despite his role as a giant in Gulliver's Travels.
The Much Overlooked Seth Green
It is difficult to notice that some of our favorite Hollywood hunks may be missing an element of the expected tallness when we see them on the big screen. Why? Because we’re too busy being starstruck by their confidence and personality.
Seth Green's looks may be the reason he lends his voice to a greater number of programs than he does appear on those shows. Seth is just 5 feet and 3 inches tall, which is a few inches shorter than his wife; nevertheless, this does not seem to be an issue for the happy pair.
Our Favorite Nerd Galecki
In the television show The Big Bang Theory, Johnny Galecki plays the role of Leonard Hofstadter, a socially awkward geek who is, in short, short. He may not be a socially awkward geek in real life, but he certainly isn’t tall.
Except for Jim Parsons, who portrays Sheldon Cooper, all of Galecki's co-stars are likewise on the lower end of the height range; nonetheless, Galecki is the smallest of the bunch at 5 feet and 5 inches. The fact that he is much shorter than his co-stars may come as quite a shock to many people.
Soulful Singer Bruno Mars
Because of his charisma and charm, Bruno Mars has won the hearts of people all over the globe. When he tells us over our sound systems that he will catch a grenade for us or that he believes he wants to marry us, we weaken in the knees with excitement.
However, the idea that he would love us just as we are may be his way of expressing that he needs the same, considering that the singer of Uptown Funk is only 5 feet 5 inches tall. But with a voice and smile like that, who could deny him?
Martin Freeman Climbing The Ranks
Another Hobbit has been added to the list. Many people were taken aback when they found out that Martin Freeman would be playing the character of Bilbo Baggins, but it’s a good fit, and in the end, he did an outstanding job with the role.
When we learned that the British actor is just 5 feet 6 inches tall, it looked as if he had a bit more in common with his role than we had first imagined. In his most recent series, Fargo, he did not let the fact that he is short prevent him from behaving like a badass.
That Pesci Ruler
Joe Pesci is known for portraying the part of the "tough guy" in many of his films and television shows. If you saw him in person, you’d probably feel quite threatened by him despite his short stature. Pesci, who is all of 5 feet, 3 inches tall, has shown that one does not need height to play the villain in a movie.
Even though he played several memorable characters in films like My Cousin Vinnie and Goodfellas, he is most well-known for his portrayal as the villainous thief Harry Lime in the Christmas classic Home Alone.
We Cannot Overlook Aziz Ansari
It doesn't matter what program Aziz Ansari is starring in; in comparison to his other cast members, he will always be the smallest. In the episode of Parks and Recreation, when he appeared, he seemed very small next to Chriss Pratt.
However, in the episode of his show, Master of None, he made himself appear even shorter next to Eric Wareheim. However, it doesn't appear to bother this comic at all, as seen by the fact that GQ magazine praised him for outdressing Jon Hamm and calling it a "victory for short guys globally."
Classic Charlie Chaplin
Another actor who made the most of his height was Charlie Chaplin. Although he is no longer with us, Chaplin was a pioneer in the field. During the time of silent films, being on the smaller side was advantageous since it assisted with contrast, which was an essential component of humor.
Chaplin, who was just 5 feet 4 inches tall, is quoted as saying, "If I am being treated brutally, it is usually a huge guy who is doing it; so that, by the contrast between the big and the tiny, I have the sympathy of the audience."
Brian James McAvoy
We were blown away by his performance in Split, in which he portrayed several distinct personalities that shared the same body. However, who would have guessed that the actor who played "The Beast" is just 5 feet 7 inches tall?
He minimized his looks in an interview that took place in 2007, stating, "I'm 5-foot-7, and I've got pasty white skin. Don't get me wrong—I don't consider myself to be particularly unattractive—but I'm not your typical leading man, like Brad Pitt. Despite his lack of self-assurance, he is somewhat taller than the majority of the people on this list.
Don’t Forget Richard Dreyfuss
When it comes to Hollywood, a person's height is nothing more than a number. Even though Richard Dreyfuss is on the shorter side, he has managed to carve out a successful career as an actor and win a Golden Globe. This celebrity, who stands at 5 feet and 5 inches, has never been hindered by his height.
However, he is embarrassed by the fact that he has a mental illness. In the interview, he compared it to being embarrassed about one's height and said, "It's like being ashamed that you're 5-foot-6 or something," adding, "It's simply part of me."
The Talented Ken Jeong
This charming actor, who has appeared in films like The Hangover and Community, truly leads a double existence. It is hard to think that in addition to being the beloved comedian and actor that everyone is familiar with, he also has a medical degree and has worked as a general practitioner in the past.
The 5'5 actor's very first part was in the comedy film Knocked Up, in which he played none other than a physician. Soon after, he concluded that he could easily make other people laugh, and because of this, he decided to pursue a career in acting.
Eternally Funny Kevin Hart
Kevin Hart is widely regarded as one of the most talented comedians of the 2010s, and he never missed the opportunity to make a joke or two about himself, particularly his stature. Hart does not hide the fact that he is just 5 feet, 4 inches tall; in fact, he famously quipped, "I'm Kevin Hart, and one thing you may not know about me is... I am 5 feet 4 1/2 inches tall.
“Many folks are under the impression that it's merely 5-4. It is not that. Five-foot-four-and-a-half.” Even during the concerts themselves, he would often comment on the obvious height gap between himself and his wife. He helps us feel better about thinking about it even in the first place!
David Faustino Is Only 5’3
Most people are familiar with David Faustino from his role as Bud Buddy in the comedy Married With Children, which aired in the 1990s. After that, he gave rapping a go under the stage name Lil' Gweed in an attempt to build a career in the genre.
We will never know if this moniker was a reflection of his 5 foot 3 height or whether he merely wanted to follow in the footsteps of other rappers like Lil' Wayne, Lil' Dicky, or Lil' Kim (some of them are truly little as well).
The Unforgettable Mini Me
Verne Troyer has a height of 2 feet and 7 inches. Who could forget the actor who portrayed "Mini-Me" so perfectly in the Austin Powers film franchise? He played the role of Dr. Evil’s clone so well in The Spy Who Shagged that they just had to have him back in Goldmember.
Although he had a career that extended over a decade, his acting debut was as Baby Bink's stunt double in the film Baby's Day Out. He also had a cameo in the film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Sadly, he passed away in 2018, and it is believed that he committed suicide.
Short Of Tony Cox
This Alabama native, now 64 years old, was given the birth name Joseph Anthony Cox. He is most known for his roles in the films Bad Santa, Spaceballs, Disaster Movie, Epic Movie, and many others.
In the film Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, he also performed the endearing role of an Ewok. It seems that Hollywood is not short of small people, but we could never do without Tony Cox, get what we mean?
This little actor has appeared in several notable roles, but the one that has brought him the most fame is the title part in the film series Willow and Leprechaun. When you think about it, no one could have played it more accurately.
Additionally, he had many roles in the Star Wars film series, the most notable of which was the Ewok Wicket. The actor, now 51 years old, has also appeared in the Harry Potter film series in the roles of Professor Filius Flitwick and Griphook.

Because of his work on the show, the 52-year-old actor took home a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for four consecutive years.
Since then, he has starred in several movies, the most recent of which was in the MCU film Avengers: Infinity War, in which he played the role of Eitri. Dinklage was born with achondroplasia, a prevalent kind of dwarfism. This condition causes him to have small limbs and legs while maintaining a normal-length torso.
The Ever So Funny Billy Crystal

However, he is perhaps best known for playing the character of coach Gordon Bombay in The Mighty Ducks series. In the 2021 television series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, which is available on Disney+, he reprised his role.
Frankie Muniz’s Not So Average Height

These include the movies Constantine, Indiana Jones, and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Disturbia. However, he is most well-known for his role as Sam Witwicky in the Transformers films—the very first cinematic adaptation of the franchise.
